By: Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia

Today Engr Chris Emeka Azubogu raised a motion on the floor of the National Assembly (House of Representatives):

The motion was titled:
“Urgent Need To Restore Security In Anambra State Which Will Arrest The Killing Of Innocent Citizens By Criminals And Non-State Actors.

It triggered a National Conversation on insecurity especially as it relates to ANAMBRA State and South East. Members made valid contributions.

It was a Parliamentary call for the Executive to mobilise all the instruments of the Government for the restoration of security in Anambra State.

I must also acknowledged the contributions from Anambra State members of the House of Representatives, Hon Lynda Ikpeazu, Hon Chinedu Obidigwe and Hon Dozie Nwankwo, all of whom were striving to restore security in Anambra State.

It was a call for action. A call to protect humanity against unwarranted killings.

The House Resolved among other things:

(1) Urge the National Security Adviser(NSA), Inspector General of Police, Director General State Security Services, Army, Navy and other Security establishments to form a joint task force to restore security in Anambra State, especially within the Local Government Areas bordering Imo State.

(2)To Commend the security agencies for all their effort in curbing these incessant killings so far.

(3) Observe one-minute silence in memory of Chief Gab Ofoma, Mr. Sule Matthew, our security men and women and other innocent citizens that have been brutally murdered through these senseless killings by criminals
