Alaafin of Oyo Confers Chieftaincy title on NIWA Boss Chief Dr George Moghalu

As part of continued celebration marking the 50th coronation anniversary of Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, Iku Baba Yeye, Alaafin of Oyo has conferred historical title on Chief Dr George Moghalu, the Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority.

The chieftaincy title of Fiwajoye of Yoruba Land was conferred on NIWA Boss on Saturday 19th February , 2022 at the Palace of His Imperial Majesty, Alaafin of Oyo in Oyo State Nigeria.

In his appointment letter to Chief Dr George Moghalu, His Imperial Majesty, the permanent Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs. The Custodian of Yoruba Culture and Tradition and the King of Yorubas said, “The Alaafin from time immemorial is the king and head of Yoruba Nation. He is the only King in Yorubaland who can confer chieftaincy title to a worthy man or woman to cover the whole of Yorubaland”.

The Alaafin further stated that any person that could be conferred with a title that covers the whole of Yorubaland must be of impeccable character. Against the backdrop of the principle enunciated above, Alaaafin stated he has consulted with the Oyomesi, the traditional cabinet of the Alaafin, who are the kingmakers rigorously and have ascertained the character, business acumen, Philanthropy, public Dispositions of Chief Dr George Moghalu and found him worthy as thoroughbred Nigerian who is culturally inclined and traditionally oriented person that can wear the toga of Yoruba royalty and to be a promoter of the institution of Chieftaincy.

In his acceptance Speech, Chief Dr George Moghalu felicitated with His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III on the 50th anniversary of his ascension to his forefathers’ throne. He praised Iku baba Yeye whom he describe as a father, as a custodian of the Yoruba race’s culture and traditions and a bridge-builder in Nigeria. He thanked His Imperial Majesty for finding him worthy of the title and Promise to be a good Ambassador of the Palace.

The New Fiwajoye of Yorubaland (Character Role Model of Yorubaland), Chief Dr George Moghalu from Uruagu Nnewi Anambra State is a Nigerian Public Servant, Politician, Administrator, Former National Auditor of All Progressives Congress and currently the Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA). He was a Gubernatorial Aspirant in All Progressives Congress Primary that never took place in Anambra State. Chief Dr George Moghalu is an exceptional philanthropist and Public Servant who is selfless in many ways.

Chief Dr George Moghalu was accompanied to the Palace by Chief Osita Anazodo, His Excellency, Chief Maxwell Okoye, Chief Godwin Moghalu (G.Moer), Chief Alex Okeke, Engr Epi Okoye, Alhaji Danladi Ibrahim, Surveyor Adetola, Alhaji Umar Girer, Adekunle Tembi esq, Hon Japhet Maisaje, Engr Bassey Ekanem, Jubril Dardau and Many others.
